Rock'n'Roll is dead in High Wycombe

We went to High Wycombe
to play a gig
But there wan't much applause
High Wycombe stayed indoors.
There's alot that can be said
about a gig at the Nag's Head
or so Clive said
but Rock n Roll is dead
in High Wycombe

We invited our friend Harry
to come and play
all the way from Berlin
but they wouldn't let him in
to our regular london haunts
'cause he wouldn't have the local pull
the venue might end up half full
or half empty
depending on which way you look at it
He couldn't have played the Wycombe stage
but he would not earn a living wage
'cause Wycombe did something else instead
yes rock n roll is dead
in High Wycombe

So what's the problem?
What's to blame?
what if they threw a gig?
and nobody came?

We had some audience
i must confess
some friends from St Albans
and the Bucks free press
who gave us a very nice review
and kindly said "look it isn't you
it's like this every week it's true
it pisses me off it does in me 'ead
but rock n roll is dead
in High Wycombe

Maybe Wycombe's ahead of the times
heralding the new age ringing the chimes
it's dead and gone and buried innit
now there's no no no no no no no no no no no no limit
it's a bit depressing i have to say
if Wycombe is truley leading the way
enough said
Rock n roll is dead
in High Wycombe
