HANDWRITTEN (Written by Hand)

Handwritten, written by hand
by someone who took time and cared
who picked up a pen
in a cafe, alone
let the stream of his consciousness flow.
In the excitement of telling
some news from back home
the writing is getting untidy.
Almost illegible
(what does it matter?)
the character comes shining through.
What a wonderful thing
to find in the postbox
this letter
much travelled and worn.
With stamps stuck uneven
address bodly scrawled
on the envelope,
battered and torn.
Note: Non-handwritten letters (i.e: of the "official" kind)
are stacked in a pile before opening. It could be they get
seen to three months from arrival
